Conferences and Meetings

One of my favourite things about being a scientist is that you get to travel around the world to attend conferences and scientific meetings.
Whilst these are great events for keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in the field, they also represent a chance to catch up with old friends and colleagues, form new collaborations and-see the world!!!
In July this year, I attended the Alzheimer's Association International Conference which was held in Paris, France. Sometimes life is tough!

A definite highlight of the trip was an address to the delegation given by His Excellency Nicolas Sarkozy, President of France. His passion and commitment to improve Aged Care funding in his country was truly inspiring. The meeting also highlighted many of the international networks of scientists and clinicians working together on a number of large studies investigating and characterising the time-course of Alzheimer's disease.

In amongst all this conferencing, I did get a chance to see a bit of Paris, including the Paris Catacombs and the palace of Versailles!
